The thickness of the metal

Clarity on the thickness of the metals to be welded is essential to select the correct welder. Both minimum and maximum output current are crucial.

Minimum current indicates the minimum thickness you can weld, and maximum current indicates the maximum thickness. The thickness to current relation also depends on the material and joint configuration.

YesWelder MIG-205DS welding current range is 30 – 205A (Maximum), so consider this when you make your selection.

What You Should Know Before Buying YesWelder CUT-55DS Plasma Cutter

Cutting speed

The cutting speed of a plasma cutter indicates its fastness and is usually mentioned in inches per minute. The cutting speed decreases as the thickness of the metal increase. It would be best to consider your quantum of work and how fast you want to do it.

YesWelder CUT-55DS can cut a 6mm mild steel sheet at the rate of 15.748 inch/min (0.4 m/min).

Duty cycle

Duty cycle means the total length of time you can operate the plasma cutter without overheating it. It usually is calculated considering 10 minutes cycle.

YesWelder CUT-55DS duty cycle is 60% at 55A and 100% at 35A. This means you can cut for 6 minutes continuously at 55 amperes (then allow it to cool for 4 minutes) or cut for 10 minutes continuously at 35 amperes.

Evaluate your need and understand this feature before making your decision.

Type of plasma cutting torch

There are two types of plasma cutting torches, non-touch and touch type, and they differ in how you start the arc. In the first type (non-touch), you can start the arc without touching the workpiece to the electrode/nozzle, and in the second type, you must touch the workpiece with the electrode/nozzle to start the arc.

YesWelder CUT-55DS uses a non-touch type torch. The non-touch torch enhances the life of the consumables, however, the non-touch type uses high frequency and can disturb the functioning of the nearby electronic units.

Air compressor

Few plasma cutters have a built-in compressor. YesWelder CUT-55DS does not have a built-in compressor. Therefore, you must have a compressed air source of 5-7CFM at 60PSI to use your plasma cutter.

Consider this feature and your convenience when you make your decision.

Compatibility with a CNC table

YesWelder CUT-55DS is not compatible with CNC. If you have a CNC table and want to use the plasma cutter, you need to consider another option.

What You Should Know Before Buying YesWelder 302C Auto Darkening Welding Helmet

Safety standards

The safety standard for welding helmets is ANSI Z87.1-2003 (ANSI stands for American National Standards Institute and Society of Safety Engineers). This standard covers both the helmet and auto-darkening lens manufacturers.

YesWelder 302C welding helmet meets the safety and the technical standard of EN379, EN175, EN166, CSA, and ANSI ISEA Z87.1.

Speed of switching

The shade of the lens will be #3 or #4 when you are not welding, and the moment you strike a welding arc, the shade should become # 9 or above, and the time taken for this is called switching time. Choosing the wrong switching over time may leave you with tired eyes after the welding is completed.

The switching time of the YesWelder 302C helmet is 1/25000th, 1/30000th of a second.

Source of power

Your ADF welding helmet needs a source of power for its working, and this source is a lithium-ion battery (coin cells) with or without solar assist panels. Those with solar assist panels will have more battery life.

YesWelder 302C helmet comes with a lithium-ion battery, and it is solar-powered.

Optical clarity

The optical clarity is essential (the better you see, the better you can weld) and is regulated by European Standards EN 379.

The ratings are displayed by four numbers, each indicating one aspect viz. optical class (distortion), diffusion of light (blurriness), the disparity in luminous transmission (uniform shade), and angle dependence.

The ratings are on a scale of 1 to 3 for each aspect (1 is perfect and 3 is worst). So, YesWelder 302C score of 1/1/1/1 indicates superior clarity.

Viewing area and the number of sensors

Some welding helmets allow you to view a larger area of your surroundings and some helmets allow you to focus on the area of the welding only. Remember, a larger viewing size makes the helmet bigger and heavier. YesWelder 302C helmet front viewing area is 3.94ʺ × 2.64ʺ, and the two side windows are 1.38ʺ/2.56ʺ ×2.36ʺ.

The higher the number of sensors higher and better is the coverage. The sensors will be able to sense the welding arc quickly and change the shade of the lens. YesWelder 302C helmet has six premium sensors.

How did YesWelder start?

Back in 2006, YesWelder began its manufacturing journey. Despite being a new brand compared to the top brands on the market, they have built a solid community of welders.

Initially, they used intermediaries and third parties to distribute their equipment to have their products accessible to a wide range of users.

Over time, and due to various operational reasons, YesWelder decided to transform into a Direct to Consumer business in 2018. Eliminating the suppliers and intermediaries and removing the barriers with customers made it easy and affordable for everyone to purchase their products.

What are the benefits and downsides of choosing YesWelder?

Why should I choose YesWelder?

If you’re searching for an efficient welding machine, plasma cutter, or welding helmet that is medium-range and affordable, YesWelder could be an excellent choice.

Many well-known brands on the market are larger scale than YesWelder. However, that isn’t to say that YesWelder isn’t valuable.

At one point in a certain period, every major brand was once a tiny manufacturer that was able to grow due to the quality of its products. Smaller companies, including YesWelder, continue to produce amazing machines.

Warranty

Warranty is another critical factor to consider. YesWelder offers a one-year limited warranty for their ARC, TIG, MIG welders, and plasma cutters. 180 Days for auto-darkening welding masks, TIG torches, and MIG guns. 90 Days for other accessories, welding gauges, and replacement parts.

Our final verdict

In this article, we have tried to give a complete review of YesWelder’s best selling machines to aid you in making the best buying choice.

Whatever brand you pick, regardless of its popularity, you’ll come across some negative opinions about it. However, that doesn’t mean every brand is alike.

To determine the most reliable welder, plasma cutter, or helmet on the market, you must compare the essential features you are looking for and your project requirements.

Either way, we believe that YesWelder provides decent products for affordable prices that make hobbyists and beginners start their welding and fabrication journey.
